Our Mission
Success through education in partnership with our community.

Student Program
Central emphasizes a comprehensive K-2 academic program designed to meet the individual needs of each student. Our classroom teachers are supported by a librarian, physical education specialist and music specialist. Counseling services are also available. In addition to the above programs, Central is dedicated to each child's acquisition of strong basic reading skills. Central Celebrates Reading is a year-long program of events and activities designed to promote increased achievement n reading. The program includes Family Reading Nights, Accelerated Reader, after school reading club, summer Jump Start, special assemblies, school-wide reading goals, collaboration with the Snohomish Public Library, Snohomish High School, Americorps and local businesses. Central received a grant from the Books for Kids Foundation which enabled every child to own a book of his or her own. Central values and promotes regular attendance. Throughout the 1998-99 school year, the average daily attendance exceeded 93%.

Parent Involvement
Parents and community members are always welcome at school. Those wishing to volunteer at the school may contact a teacher directly or volunteer through the school office. Central has a very supportive group of parents. This is reflected in their high visibility as volunteers at conferences, concerts and at other school functions. Central also has an active and supportive PTA. This Parent-Teacher Association supports students with money and time. Field trips, playground equipment and technology are some of their many contributions.

Snow & Ice~School Closure Information

When winter arrives, the possibility of school closure or a two hour delay in starting time due to weather or road conditions must be considered.   In the event closure or change in starting time is necessary, radio station KRKO, (1380 AM) and KING, KIRO, KOMO radio and TV will be requested to make announcements between 5:30 am and 8:00 pm. Information is also posted on the Public School Emergency Communication System website at www.psecs.wednet.edu as well as at the school district website www.sno.wednet.edu .  The district will also initiate the automated phone call system to alert parents of the delay or closure of school.  If there is a delayed start, ALL AM and PM Kindergarten, preschool and ECEAP classes will be cancelled. The all day Kindergarten class will follow the two hour delayed schedule.  Unless you hear an announcement to the contrary, you will know that Snohomish schools are open, and buses are operating on as nearly a normal schedule as possible.
